2006 was a big year for Shawn. In April, Shawn won the NRBC Classic (Derby) on Einsteins Revolution. One month later, he was the Reserve Open Champion at the NRHA Derby on KR Lil Conquistador. At the Tulsa Reining Classic Shawn claimed Champion (on Walla Walla Whiz) and Reserve Champion (on Western Whiz). At the Tradition Futurity, Shawn was a double Co-Champion, in a three way tie with Mike McEntire, on two of the top 3 horses: Smarty Starlight and BR Sheza Cameo Jac. At the Quarter Horse Congress in October, Shawn won the Futurity Championship on Senor Tejano Whiz, and took the Reserve spot on BR Sheza Cameo Jac. In 2005, Shawn and Smart Spook were the NRHA Open Derby champions - a winning combination. Read more ... At the end of the year, he won the NRHA 2005 Open Futurity Championship on KR Lil Conquistador.
In 2004, Shawn had won the NRHA Open Futurity riding Smart Spook.
Shawn Flarida's quest to become NRHA's third Million Dollar Rider became reality at the 2003 All American Quarter Horse Congress, held annually every October in Columbus, Ohio.
In 2002, Shawn broke all NRHA records when his money-earned tally for the year reached $270,364.12. He was an Individual and Team USA Gold Medallist in Reining's debut at the World Equestrian Games in Jerez, Spain.
He came home to win the Congress Futurity on Wimpys Little Step. Shawn and Wimpys Little Step went on to win the 2002 NRHA Open Futurity Championship. You can watch Wimpys Little Step in action in the Good As Gold Reining videos.
